Neubrunn is a district of the Lower Franconian municipality of Kirchlauter in the Haßberge district .

geography

The church village was possibly built in the 9th or 10th century during the Franconian settlement period on the southern side of the Lauterberg, on whose ridge between Kirchlauter and Neubrunn an old trade route, the so-called Rennweg , leads from Köslau to Bamberg via Königsberg . Layers of clay cut through valleys reveal spring horizons. The Neubrunner Bach flows through the village and joins the Ebelsbach in the outflowing valley. The district road HAS 58 leads through Neubrunn.

history

The place name means "To the new fountain" and probably goes back to the geographical conditions with various sources on a layer of clay. There are nine named springs in the settlement area.

The settlement was mentioned in writing in 1151 when a property in the village of "Nuwenbrunnen" belonged to Eckehard von Helungen and was donated to the Bamberg Canonical Monastery of St. Jakob. A family of servants called “de Nuwenbrunn” that had existed for over 150 years died out after 1370. The place was a Ganerbendorf . Over the centuries, up to ten noble or knightly families simultaneously raised claims to property, taxes, fiefs and rights in the place. Mainly these were the Flieger family, the Herfuoz, von Heide, the Fuchs, von Bibra , Greuel, von Seckendorf, von Coburg, von Rotenhan , Stein von Altenstein , Erthal zu Leuzendorf, von Wiesentau, von Aufsess, the parish of Zeil , the church in Neubrunn, von Guttenberg and many others. Most of the estates and fiefs belonged to the Würzburg monastery , three fiefdoms belonged to the Saxon office of Königsberg. Eberhard Fuchs von Eltmann received in 1351 part of the tithe in "Neubrunnen". In 1440 Kunz von Rotenhan owned the tithe for "Newbrun" and in 1596 there were 49 farms and manufacturing facilities in "Neubron". From 1690 there was a school building next to the church.

From the beginning, Neubrunn was part of the Würzburg monastery and was administered in its office, the high court district Eltmann / Wallburg and the Haßfurt winery. 1689/90 the place came to the newly established office and to the center Kirchlauter. After secularization , Neubrunn was placed in the patrimonial court in 1814 and in the Gleusdorf district court in 1831 .

In 1862 the rural community of Neubrunn, consisting of two places, the church village Neubrunn and the solitude of Passmühle (right of the stream), was incorporated into the newly created Bavarian district office of Ebern . The main town of Neubrunn had 353 inhabitants in 1871, all of whom were Catholic and belonged to the Kirchlauter parish 2.5 kilometers away. A Catholic denominational school was in the place. In 1900, the 680.85 hectare parish had 442 residents, all but one Catholic, and 72 residential buildings. The main town had 430 inhabitants and 71 residential buildings. In 1904 the schoolhouse, which had been built from the old tithe barn in 1840, was extended. In 1925, 509 people lived in 82 residential buildings in Neubrunn. The Protestant residents belonged to the Protestant parish in the village of Altershausen, 3.0 kilometers away . The desert Klaubmühle has also been incorporated into the rural community. In 1950 the church village had 619 residents and 99 residential buildings. The Protestant residents belonged to the Protestant parish in Dörflis near Königsberg . In 1961 Neubrunn had 584 residents and 112 residential buildings. In 1970 there were 603 and in 1987 655 inhabitants and 160 residential buildings with 203 apartments.

Neubrunn has been part of the Kirchlauter community since May 1, 1978.

Baroque church St. Andreas and St. Katharina in the old town center

The Catholic branch church of St. Andreas, St. Katharina and St. Sebastian goes back to a chapel that was mentioned when Kirchlauter was founded in 1445/46. A late Gothic sacrament niche and a St. Sebastian figure come from the previous building. The late baroque church was built from 1777 to 1779 under the direction of the Bamberg city architect Johann Josef Vogel. It is a hall building with a retracted choir and a single-tower facade, which is adorned with parts of the house and figures made of sandstone. The furnishings, preserved in the early classical style, are the work of the Knetzgau and Bamberg sculpting family Moritz from 1784 to 1797. The church was expanded in 1974/1975 with two transepts.

A total of six architectural monuments in Neubrunn are listed in the Bavarian Monument List .
