history

The history of the hamlet is closely linked to that of the neighboring Effeldorf. The origin of the name Neuhof is unclear, but it is likely to be one of the younger settlements in the area, which only emerged in the High Middle Ages . In the 13th century the settlement belonged to the sphere of influence of the Schwarzenau counts. Later Neuhof and Effeldorf came to the Würzburg Monastery , which ruled until the 16th century.

In 1573 the Würzburg prince-bishop handed the place over to the Jesuits . Until the dissolution of the order in 1773, they were masters of Neuhof and Effeldorf. The village was then sold to private individuals. In 1860 Neuhof consisted of seven residential buildings and was assigned to the parish Rottendorf and the school in Effeldorf. Between 2000 and 2010, the village renewal was promoted . A bus stop was created in the village and a meeting point in the center of the village.

Attractions

The only architectural monument in Neuhof is a 19th century crucifix of the three-nail type made of sandstone. The trunk of the cross rests on a base on which an inscription with the year 1866 is carved in Gothic fracture . The inscription was reconstructed in the course of the village renewal. The small monument is the center of the village today.
