history

The history of the village is closely linked to that of the Nuremberg – Würzburg railway line. In the course of the construction of this line, Dettelbach received its own train station , which was inaugurated after 1865 and was located in the area of the municipality of Effeldorf, about six kilometers away. At first there was no district of the same name because there were no houses here apart from the train station. In order to reach Dettelbach, the travelers had to cover a one-hour bus ride.

Only with the construction of the branch line Dettelbach Dettelbach Bahnhof-City this changed. As early as 1890, the city tried to establish another railway line via Gerolzhofen , Volkach with the end point Dettelbach, but the idea failed. It was not until 1896 that Luitpold Baumann , member of the state parliament and mayor of Dettelbach, succeeded in convincing the government in Munich to build a new railway. It was inaugurated on August 30, 1900 and branched off from the main route here. However, this branch line was given up again in 1960. Today Dettelbach-Bahnhof is one of the districts of the municipality of Dettelbach.
