Moto3 class

In 2012 Niccolò Antonelli made his debut in the motorcycle world championship . On a Honda in the San Carlo Gresini Moto3 team of Fausto Gresini, he was able to achieve several top ten placings, including fourth place at the French Grand Prix in Le Mans .

The following years 2013 and 2014 were marked by falls and stagnant performances for Antonelli.

In the 2015 season , his fourth in the Moto3 World Championship, Niccolò Antonelli celebrated his first podium and immediately his first victory at the Czech Grand Prix in Brno . After two subsequent third places, he won his second win of the season at the Japanese Grand Prix in Motegi .

After his opening win in Qatar in 2016 , Antonelli was considered one of the title contenders, but was unable to meet these expectations due to falls and insufficient performance and fell back to eleventh place in the World Cup by the end of the season.

For the 2017 season, he switched to the Red Bull KTM Ajo team , where he replaced Brad Binder, who was promoted to the Moto2 class . The season was disappointing, he scored only 38 points, over half of them with a second place in the Australian Grand Prix , and was 18th in the final standings. In the team-internal duel against Bo Bendsneyder , he drew the short straw.

In 2018 he moved to SIC58 Squadra Corse , the public team Paolo Simoncellis, the father of the late Marco Simoncelli and has since been driving alongside the Japanese Tatsuki Suzuki . Although he did not get any podium places in 2018, the season went better than 2017, he scored 71 points and finished the season in 15th place. In 2019 Antonelli achieved his fourth Moto3 victory at the Spanish Grand Prix , which also became a double victory for the team due to a second place from Suzuki. It was the only podium for the Italian this season and he also had to miss four races due to injury, but he finished the season in seventh place with 128 points.

The 2020 season started with Antonelli with another injury (in motocross ), due to which he had to skip the season opener, the Qatar Grand Prix . In the second race of the season in Spain , he returned to the track and finished ninth.
