Nicola Bardola (born April 27, 1959 in Zurich ) is a Swiss author , journalist and translator .

Life

Nicola Bardola, son of the Swiss mathematician and bridge master Marcello Bardola and the housewife with a commercial diploma and bridge player Elena Hoeffleur, attended the canton school Rämibühl and the canton school Stadelhofen . After graduating from high school , at the age of 19 he published texts on university topics in the Bern Student Union's weekly calendar , concert reviews in the Berner Zeitung and his first poem “Fallobst für Tantalus” on February 15, 1979 in Student Bern . On May 28, 1979, his poem "Ampelfrühling" appeared in the Berner Zeitung . From then on he published poems and prose, book and record reviews as well as film and concert reviews in newspapers, magazines and anthologies.

Bardola studied German, Romance languages ​​and philosophy at the Universities of Zurich, Bern and Munich. In 1984 he obtained the degree Licentiatus Philosophiae at the University of Zurich with Professor Michael Böhler with a thesis on theories of modern poetry . In 1985 he founded the column “Lyrik-Revue” in the monthly magazine Münchner Buchmagazin , which is continued online today and appears monthly. Since 1985 he has worked as an editor, library and publishing editor in Munich. He was editor-in-chief for booksellers' advertising material at Rossipaul Verlagsgesellschaft, editor-in-chief of the specialist magazine for children's and youth media Eselsohr , editor for children's and young people's books at cbj and editor for fiction at Verlag Karl Blessing . He became known in 2005 with the novel Schlemm , which deals with assisted suicide. In other publications he campaigned for the liberalization of euthanasia in Germany based on the Swiss "Exit" model.

During his work in the International Youth Library from 1986 to 1993 as a lecturer and in charge of public relations, Nicola Bardola dealt with children's and youth literature and has been promoting reading ever since. He translated books for children and young people into German, blogged for the Central Directory of Antiquarian Books (ZVAB), and made films with Focus Schule. In 2005 he was a juror at the German Youth Literature Prize for the complete works of a translator. Read his almanac ! was published from 2005 to 2010 with reading recommendations for children and young people. In 2015 he was a guest lecturer at the LMU in the book studies course on the subject of press and public relations. His contributions appeared a. a. in the anthologies "On the work of Roger Willemsen - The Passionate Contemporary", edited by Insa Wilke (S. Fischer, 2015) or in "The Hope in Your Luggage - Encounters with Refugees", edited by Cornelia von Schelling and Andrea Stickel (Allitera, 2015). His articles and reviews have appeared in the Börsenblatt , BuchMarkt , Abendzeitung , Neue Zürcher Zeitung , Süddeutsche Zeitung , and Die Zeit .

His books have been translated into English, Greek, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish. He lives near Munich.
