Nicolas Hasler (born May 4, 1991 in Vaduz ) is a Liechtenstein football player . Most recently he was with Chicago Fire in Major League Soccer under contract. He is the son of the former professional soccer player Rainer Hasler , who is considered one of the most important athletes in Liechtenstein.
Career
Hasler spent his youth career at FC Triesen and later at FC Balzers . After a year-long stint at USV Eschen-Mauren , he moved to FC Vaduz in 2011 . He made his debut in the Challenge League season 2011/12 on the first match day against FC St. Gallen . Hasler came on after the first half and the game was lost 2: 4. At the end of the season they were in 8th place. From 2013 to 2017 he was able to win the Liechtenstein Cup with FC Vaduz and thus qualify for the UEFA Europa League , where there were no major successes. The contract with FC Vaduz, which expired in summer 2017, was not extended because there was no agreement between the two parties.
On July 13, 2017, Toronto FC announced Hasler's signing. In the very first year he won the MLS Cup with his club . He also reached the final of the CONCACAF Champions League with the team in 2018 , which Toronto only lost on penalties. On July 20, 2018 , Hasler moved to Chicago Fire within Major League Soccer . In March 2019, Hasler was released from his club after only 14 games and shortly afterwards signed by Sporting Kansas City .
