history
The Niederberger Group emerged from Jakob Niederberger Großbauten-Reinigungs GmbH & Co. KG, which was founded in 1924 by Jakob Niederberger and Albert Armbrust in Cologne. Initially active exclusively in the Cologne catchment area, the company also offered its services in the Ruhr area from the 1930s . He was one of the first service providers in the region to offer the maintenance cleaning of large buildings on a subscription basis.
The Second World War meant the temporary end of the company. In 1943 Jakob Niederberger was called up for military service. In 1945 he returned to Cologne. The company was rebuilt despite the difficult framework conditions. In the years that followed, Jakob Niederberger provided significant support to the establishment of regional guilds and associations for the industry.
The upswing in the 1950s also affected the Niederberger Group and the company acquired a fleet of vehicles . In 1956 Werner Scheffler became a co-owner. He then drove the service provider's expansion , which began in 1961 with the establishment of the first subsidiary in Berlin . Further branches in Duisburg , Bonn and Aachen followed by 1965 . In 1973 Jakob Niederberger founded GBR-Großbauten -reinigung in Cologne-Porz . Another company started operations in 1977 in Berlin.
In 1980 Jakob Niederberger died. The business was initially taken over by Werner Scheffler, who also died two years later. He was succeeded by his son, Bernd Scheffler. In 1986 the expansion was pushed forward again in Berlin and the second operation of the GBR large building cleaning was opened. He put his focus on hospital and hotel services. In 1988 the Niederberger Group introduced the JOS process for gentle cleaning of sensitive facade surfaces.
After the reunification , the group of companies expanded to East Germany. In 1991 the branch in Strausberg, Brandenburg, started operations. In 2007 a change in the management of the group followed. Bernd Scheffler withdrew from the operative business and handed over the management of the company to Holger Eickholz and Frank A. Ohrem. The network of locations was expanded to include branches in Bremen and Mainz , and the companies belonging to the group of companies now operate under the uniform umbrella brand Niederberger Gruppe.
On August 1, 2010, Holger Eickholz and Frank A. Ohrem took over Bernd Scheffler's shares in the company. Since then they have each held 50 percent of the Niederberger Group.
Locations
The Niederberger Group has ten operations in Aachen , Berlin , Bochum , Bonn , Düsseldorf , Duisburg , Cologne , Mainz , Oyten near Bremen and Strausberg as well as 20 regional bases.
Services
The Niederberger Group provides infrastructural and technical building services . In addition to the maintenance cleaning of buildings, this includes the removal of graffiti, the cleaning of glass, stone and metal facades, the maintenance of green spaces and the assumption of janitorial and courier services. Construction and industrial cleaning as well as the maintenance of industrial plants are also part of the Niederberger Group's services. With its Food Service division, the company has also specialized in cleaning and disinfection in food processing plants . The services include in particular the killing of microorganisms through cleaning and disinfection, the preparation of hygiene plans , the provision of hygiene products and measures to optimize water and energy consumption. Another branch of the company is dedicated to technical facility services. Here the company offers, among other things, facility scans, electrical tests according to DGUV (3), control and cleaning of air conditioning systems (RLT) acc. VDI 6022, water sampling according to the provisions of the Drinking Water Ordinance acc. VDI 6023 and measures for building renovation .
Employee structure
The Niederberger Group employed 3,672 people nationwide in 2017. 89.4 percent of them were employed subject to social security contributions . Their average length of service was 8.7 years. The company regularly invests in the further training of its employees.
education
The Niederberger Group constantly trains more than 70 young people, mainly in the professions of building cleaners and office clerks . For its special commitment to training , the company received the training award from the Federal Association of Building Cleaning Crafts in 2006 and was recognized by Focus Money as the best training company in the industry in 2018.
Association memberships
The Niederberger Group is organized through its operations in the respective regional guilds and their state associations as well as in the federal guild association. In addition, the company is involved in the "Working Group for Health Service Providers". Furthermore, the Niederberger Group is a member of the GEFMA German Association for Facility Management eV and the association "Quality Assured Cleaning of Metal Facades" (GRM).
