Nikša Trstenjak (born November 12, 1990 in Zagreb , SFR Yugoslavia ) is a Croatian ice hockey player who has been under contract with KHL Mladost Zagreb since 2011 and has been playing with him in the Slovenian ice hockey league since 2015 . He is also a Croatian national player in inline hockey .
Career
Nikša Trstenjak began his career as an ice hockey player in his hometown in the youth department of the KHL Mladost Zagreb , for whose professional team he was active in the Croatian ice hockey league from 2004 to 2009 and in the Slovenian ice hockey league in the 2005/06 and 2008/09 seasons . His greatest success with Mladost Zagreb was winning the Croatian championship title in 2008.
For the 2009/10 season Trstenjak moved within the Croatian capital to the Croatian record champions KHL Medveščak Zagreb , with whom he also won the national championship title in 2010 and 2011. He also ran twelve times for Medveščak in the Austrian ice hockey league , in which he remained without points, and 26 times in the newly founded multinational Slohokej league . In the 2010/11 season he joined the Croatian ice hockey league for the Zagreb team , the joint project of the Zagreb top teams, in the Slohokej league.
For the 2011/12 season Trstenjak returned to the KHL Mladost Zagreb. Since 2015 he has been playing with the club in the Slovenian ice hockey league .
International
For Croatia, Trstenjak took part in the junior division of the U18 World Junior Championships in Division II in 2005 , 2006 , 2007 and 2008 as well as the U20 World Junior Championships in Division II in 2007 , 2008 and 2009 and Division I in 2010 .
In the senior sector, he was in his country's squad at the 2009 Division I World Championships and qualifying for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver and 2014 in Sochi .
Inline hockey
In addition to ice hockey, Trstenjak also plays inline hockey . He took part with the Croatian national inline hockey team at the IIHF Inline Hockey World Championship 2013 in Dresden in Division I.
