Nikolaus Thaddäus von Gönner
Nikolaus Thaddäus Ritter von Gönner (born December 18, 1764 in Bamberg , † April 18, 1827 in Munich ) was a German legal scholar and statesman.
origin
His parents were Johann Michael Gönner (1732–1795) and his wife Maria Anna Fleischmann (1733–1799). His father was bailiff of Baron von Pölnitz zu Hundshaupten , cathedral chapter castner of Baron von Würtzburg and auditor at the prince-bishop's vicariate of Würzburg.
Life
Gönner first attended a preparatory school and then from the school year 1775/76 the grammar school. On December 17, 1777 he moved to the University of Bamberg , where he initially registered for the humanistic branch and from 1781 studied law. In September 1781 he received his doctorate in philosophy at the University of Bamberg and, after years of study in Göttingen and practical years in Wetzlar , obtained the degree of Dr. jur. As early as 1789 he became a full professor of law in Bamberg, in 1797 court chamber consultant, in 1799 professor of constitutional law at the University of Ingolstadt , in whose relocation to Landshut (1800) he played a key role, and whose procurator he was appointed in 1803 and 1804.
Appointed to the legislative commission in Munich in 1811, in 1812 he became director of the court of appeal of the Isarkkreis , in 1813 ennobled as a knight of the Bavarian Crown's Order of Civil Merit , in 1815 as a secret judicial trainee, in 1817 a privy councilor and extraordinary, in 1820 an ordinary councilor, in 1826 after the transfer of the University of Landshut, an honorary professor of legal philosophy . He died on April 18, 1827 in Munich.
Gönner was one of the most influential representatives of the philosophical and legal school. His legislative work includes his draft of a code of law on judicial proceedings in civil cases (Erlangen 1815–1817, 3 vols.), The Mortgage Act with Commentary (Munich 1823–1824, 2 vols.) And the draft of the penal code (Munich 1822) , of his other numerous writings the manual of the German common process (Erlangen 1800–1803, 4 vol .; 2nd ed., 1804) and his German state law (Erlangen 1804) best known.
family
Gönner was married twice. In 1791 he married Eva Barbara Katharina van Winnenthael (1771–1809) in Bamberg , a daughter of the Bamberg citizen Livinius van Winnenthael (Wynendahl) and Eva Hoffmann . After the death of his first wife, he married Anna Schrödl in Munich in 1815 , a daughter of the Bavarian Finance Council, Franz Schrödl . He had two sons and three daughters (one of whom died early) from his first marriage, including the Bavarian General Secretary and Head of the Second Section in the War Ministry and archivist of the Military Max Joseph Order Michael von Gönner (1794–1876).
