Nivea Smith (born February 18, 1990 ) is a former Bahamian sprinter .

Athletic career

Anthonique Strachan gained her first international experience at the CARIFTA Games 2005 in Bacolet , where she finished fifth in the U17 age group in the 100 meter run in 11.94 s, while she finished over 200 meters in 24.16 s Came fourth. She then took part over 200 meters in the Youth World Championships in Marrakech and was eliminated there with 25.47 s in the semifinals. In addition, she did not reach the final with the Bahamian sprint relay (1000 meters) in 3: 18.08 min. Then she retired from the Pan American Junior Championships in Windsor with 24.93 s in the first round. In the following year, she won the CARIFTA Games in Les Abymes in 23.66 s in the 200-meter run , won bronze in the 100 meters in 11.90 s and the silver medal in the 4 x 100 and 4 by 400-meter relay. Then she won at the Central America and Caribbean Junior Championships in Port of Spain in the U18 category in 24.23 s, the bronze medal over 200 meters and was fourth over 100 meters in 12.02 s. With the 4 x 100 meter relay, she then took part in the Junior World Championships in Beijing and was unable to qualify for the final there with 45.41 seconds. At the CARIFTA Games 2007 in Providenciales , she won over 200 meters in 23.45 s and in the 4 x 100 meter relay in the U20 age group and was tenth in the long jump with a distance of 4.91 m. She then won the bronze medal at the World Youth Championships in Ostrava in 23.69 s and retired from the sprint relay (1000 meters) with 2: 13.04 minutes in advance. At the CARIFTA Games 2008 in Basseterre , she won over 200 meters in 23.61 s and, with a new championship record of 44.36 s, also in the 4 x 100 meter relay, while she won the 4 x 400 Meter relay came in fourth. At the Junior World Championships in Bydgoszcz she was eliminated with 23.84 s in the semifinals and with the 4 x 100 meter relay she finished fourth in the final in 44.61 s. In 2011 she won the CAC Championships in Mayagüez over 200 meters in 22.80 s and won the bronze medal in 43.74 s with the relay behind the teams from Trinidad and Toago and Jamaica. So she qualified for the World Championships in Daegu , where she was eliminated with 23.06 s in the semi-finals and could not qualify for the final with the relay. Two years later she qualified again for the World Championships in Moscow , where she was eliminated this time with 23.25 s in the first round. At the IAAF World Relays 2014 in the Bahamas she finished fourth with the 4 x 200 meter relay in 1: 31.31 min and at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow she reached the semi-finals over 200 meters, in which she was with Eliminated for 23.22 seconds. In addition, she was sixth with the season in 44.25 s. In 2016, she played her last competitions and then ended her professional career.

In 2010 and 2014, Smith became the Bahamian 200-meter champion.
