The Norwegian Air Argentina SA is an Argentinean low cost airline with headquarters in Buenos Aires . It is a subsidiary of the Chilean low-cost airline JetSmart .

history

Norwegian Air Argentina was founded on January 26, 2017. At the beginning of 2018, first national and later international flights are planned with its own Air Operator Certificate (AOC). Norwegian Air UK is to fly from London to Buenos Aires with its Boeing 787-9 .

The first flight of Norwegian Air Argentina took place on October 16, 2018 at 7:41 a.m. as flight DN 6022 from Buenos Aires-Jorge Newbery to Córdoba , where the aircraft landed at 8:45 a.m. local time. The route starts with three daily round-trip flights. Later a flight started from Buenos Aires to Mendoza and then the second daily flight to Córdoba.

On December 4, 2019, Norwegian Air Argentina was sold by the parent company Norwegian Air Shuttle for an undisclosed amount to the Chilean low-cost airline JetSmart , a subsidiary of Indigo Partners , which will take over the operation of the airline with immediate effect. For the months after the sale, JetSmart had planned to phase out the Norwegian brand and to integrate the airline into its own Argentinian airline, JetSmart Argentina . Norwegian Air Argentina’s three Boeing 737 aircraft owned by Norwegian Air Shuttle but registered in Argentina were not among the company's assets that were sold to JetSmart. They are scheduled to return to Norwegian Air Argentina’s European operations, while JetSmart will use Airbus A320 Family aircraft in their place .
