Nothgard is an end in 2008 in the Bavarian town of Deggendorf , founded Melodic Death Metal - band . Stylistically, the band combines various melodic death varieties (including the Gothenburg Melodic Death) with orchestral elements and neo-classic influences. The focus is particularly on the technical demands of the two guitars with frequent double leads and virtuoso solos.

Band history

In 2009 the first demo recording with three songs was released. In 2010, the first shows in Germany, Austria and the Czech Republic could be completed relatively soon, with the appearance at the Metalfest Open Air being a highlight for the still young band. [3] Shortly thereafter Nothgard signed a contract with Black Bards Entertainment. On April 1, 2011, the Europe-wide release of their debut album Warhorns of Midgard ; In the same month the boys completed their first major tour 2nd Black Trolls over Europe with Skyforger , Heljareyga and Gernotshagen from April 15th to 25th.

In 2012 Skaahl von Wolfchant joined as an additional guitarist.

In spring 2014 Nothgard signed a new Europe-wide contract with Trollzorn Records for their second album Age of Pandora , which was released in September 2014. This was followed by a tour across Spain and a two-week tour across Europe, together with Equilibrium and Trollfest. Band leader Dom R. Crey also joined Equilibrium in 2014 as a permanent guitarist.

After another two years, Nothgard signed a new contract with the Austrian record label NoiseArt Records , under which they released their third studio album, "The Sinner's Sake" in September 2016. "The Sinner's Sake" features guest appearances by musician friends such as Jen Majura ( Evanescence ), Jeff Loomis ( Arch Enemy ) and Robert "Robse" Dahn ( Equilibrium ).

The album reached # 74 in the German Album Charts and was highly praised by the trade press as well as by fans. The band released a lyric video for the song "Shadow Play" as part of the album, as well as two other music videos for "The Sinner's Sake" and "Draining Veins". Finally, the band toured across Europe as part of the "Armageddon Tour 2016" with Equilibrium , Heidevolk and Finsterforst .

After festival appearances such as at Summerbreeze Open Air , another tour through Europe with Kalmah , Heretoir and Lost In Gray followed in December 2017.

In spring 2018 the quartet announced the collaboration with the US label Metal Blade Records and announced the worldwide release of their fourth studio album "Malady X" for October 26th, 2018.

Nothgard also announced a European tour together with the Finnish melodic death metallers Omnium Gatherum & Wolfheart for October / November in addition to some exclusive release shows .
