Nykyfor Tymofijowytsch Kalchenko (* January 27 . Jul / 9. February  1906 greg. In Koschmaniwka ( Кошманівка ) at Maschiwka , Poltava Governorate in the Russian Empire ; † 14. May 1989 in Kiev , Ukrainian SSR ) was a Ukrainian -sowjetischer politicians and 1954 to 1961 Chairman of the Council of Ministers ( Prime Minister ) of the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic .

In 1932 Kaltschenko joined the CPSU . During the German-Soviet War he was a member of the military council in various armies of the Red Army , most recently in the rank of lieutenant general . From January 15, 1954 to February 1961, he was in succession to Demjan Korottschenko Chairman of the Council of Ministers (Prime Minister) of the Ukrainian SSR. In this position he was replaced by Volodymyr Shcherbyzkyj . From August 4, 1966 to March 15, 1976 he was a candidate for the Central Committee of the CPSU . He retired in February 1976. Nykyfor was the father of the sculptor Halyna Kaltschenko (1926–1975). He died on May 14, 1989 in Kiev and was buried in the Baikowe Cemetery.

Honors

Kaltschenko was awarded the Order of the Red Banner , the title Hero of Socialist Labor , the Order of the October Revolution , three times the Lenin Order and twice the Bogdan Khmelnitsky Order 1st class.
