Maschiwka ( Ukrainian Машівка ; Russian Машевка Maschewka ) is an urban-type settlement and the administrative seat of the raion of the same name in the east of the Ukrainian Poltava Oblast with 3800 inhabitants (2014).
geography
Maschiwka is located at the mouth of the Suchyj Tahamlyk (Ukrainian Сухий Тагамлик ) in the Tahamlyk (Ukrainian Тагамлик ), a 64 km long tributary of the Vorskla . The Poltava Oblast Center can be reached via the T -17-12 in 35 km north-west.
history
The village was founded in 1859 and was occupied by Wehrmacht troops from September 20, 1941 to September 22, 1943 . Since 1971 Maschivka has had the status of an urban-type settlement.
Personalities
- Nykyfor Kaltschenko (1906-1989); Ukrainian-Soviet politician and from 1954 to 1961 Chairman of the Council of Ministers (Prime Minister) of the Ukrainian SSR was born in Koshmanivka near Maschiwka.

Maschiwka is the administrative center of the raion of the same name. The Rajon Maschiwka is located in the eastern part of Poltava . It borders in the southeast on the Kharkiv Oblast and in the south on the Dnepropetrovsk Oblast . The Rajon has 20,000 inhabitants and an area of 889 km². The population density is 23 inhabitants per km².
