Romodan ( Ukrainian and Russian Ромодан ) is an urban-type settlement in Myrhorod Raion in the central Ukrainian Poltava Oblast with 3225 inhabitants ( as of December 5, 2001 ), of which 1399 men and 1826 women (766 men per 1000 women). The place, which lies in the transition area between the Poltava plateau in the north-east and the Dnepr lowlands in the south-west, is particularly important as a railway junction : the railway lines Kiev – Poltava – Kharkiv and Kremenchuk - Romny - Bachmatsch meet in this place. It also includes the 3 villages Konjuschewe ( Конюшеве ), Sotnyzke ( Сотницьке ) and Sharkiwschtschyna ( Шарківщина ).
history
The settlement was established in the 1880s at the time the railroad was being built in the area. From March 19 to 21, 1918, the strategically important site was the scene of a battle between Cossack divisions and Bolsheviks . In the last decades the population of the place has decreased.

Personalities
