Zavodske ( Ukrainian Заводське ; Russian Заводское Zavodskoye ) is a city in the central Ukrainian Poltava Oblast . Translated, the name means "industrial company". Zavodske is located on the left bank of the river Sula and is divided into the village of Vysneve ( Вишневе ) next to the city .

history

The place was founded in 1928 as a stalinka (Ukrainian Сталінка , Russian Сталинка ) about 8 km southwest of the district center Lochwyza on the railway line Homel - Romodan - Kremenchuk , when the construction of a sugar combine began there. In 1962 the name was changed to Tscherwonosawodske ("Red Industrial Company"), in 1970 already 7,100 inhabitants lived in Zavodske, which in 1977 received city rights. This makes the place currently the youngest city in the Poltava Oblast. The population rose to 10,076 by 1989, but has since fallen by more than 10% in the wake of the transition crisis. On February 4, 2016, the city was renamed Zavodske.
