Location of Obad in Timiș County

Obad (German: Obad , Hungarian: Obád ) is a village in Timiș County , Banat , Romania . Obad belongs administratively to Ciacova .

Geographical location

Bobda is located in the south of Timiș County, 6 kilometers from Ciacova and 30 kilometers from Timișoara , on the county road 693B Jebel -Ciacova and on the Jebel-Ciacova- Giera railway line . The station is called "Obădeni haltă".

history

The place was first mentioned in 1332 in the papal tithe lists with the name Huhad . Later the names Hunud and Ohod appear. The Ohab Fortress was built here in the 15th and 16th centuries .

On the Josephine land survey of 1717, the place Obadie is registered, has 60 houses and belongs to the district of Ciacova. After the Peace of Passarowitz (1718), when the Banat became a Habsburg crown domain , Obad was part of the Temescher Banat .

On June 4, 1920, the Banat was divided into three parts as a result of the Treaty of Trianon . The largest, eastern part, to which Obad also belongs, fell to the Kingdom of Romania .
