history

Beutha sign factory, Oberdorf factory

It was first mentioned as Obernndorff in 1447, although it is probably a village complex from the 12th or 13th century. The place name distinguishes itself from the lined up villages Mitteldorf and Niederdorf, which are also located near Stollberg . Oberdorf is almost exclusively rural. The forest hoof village is sometimes very spacious, so that the farmhouses are up to 350 m apart. Part of the corridor comes from the Mark Wittendorf desert . In the state and postal encyclopedia of Saxony, August Schumann says about Oberdorf: "It has around 40 houses, 1 mill with 1 gang and 200 inhabitants, who are parish in Stollberg." In the 19th century, a secondary school of the Stollberg school was set up in the village.

Until 1875 Oberdorf belonged to the Stollberg Office . From 1875 to 1910 it belonged to the Chemnitz Office , then until 1950 to the Stollberg Office . After the Stollberg district was dissolved in 1950, Oberdorf became part of the Aue district until the Stollberg district was re-established in 1952 .

During the GDR, the farmers who formed the LPG “Abendrot” joined the LPG “Aktivist” in Mitteldorf. The KAP Stollberg-West maintained a repair workshop in the village.

It was incorporated into Stollberg on January 1, 1974.

Medieval moated castle

In 1999, the remains of a moated castle from the 13th / 14th centuries were discovered during an archaeological flight survey. Discovered in the 19th century. Today the plateau of the tower hill with a diameter of 15 m and the corresponding moat can still be seen. The moated castle has a total diameter of about 35 m. There are no written sources or archaeological excavations. Since the moated castle is located on the former community anger, a rural use (securing of farm goods) is assumed.
