Obernüst is a part of the municipality of Hofbieber in the Hessian district of Fulda .
Geographical location
Obernüst is located in the Rhön at the source of the Nüst River at an altitude of 440 meters. Obernüst borders in the west on Gotthards , in the south on Unterbernhards and in the east on Habel and Neuschwambach . In the north lies the border with Thuringia with the towns of Ketten and Walkes .
The hamlets and farmsteads Boxberg, Königsmühle, Mitteldörnbachshof, Nüsterrasen and Wallings also belong to Obernüst.
history
Obernüst was first mentioned in a document in 1451. The place belonged to the Oberamt Bieberstein in the Hochstift Fulda and from 1816 came to the Electorate of Hesse and there to the Hünfeld district .
On August 1, 1972, Obernüst was incorporated into the Hofbieber community. For Obernüst, a local district with mayor was set up.
Economy and Infrastructure
Obernüst is still dominated by agriculture today. The Obernüster Wine Festival is known nationwide.
