The Nüst is a 22.8 km (over the Mauerscheller Wasser 25.2 km) long, orographically right tributary of the Haune in the Hessian Rhön in the district of Fulda . It rises in the border area of the communities Hilders and Hofbieber and flows in a north-westerly direction over the community Nüsttal, named after it, to the south of the town of Hünfeld and flows into the Haune.
course
The Nüst rises at a height of about 496 m on the eastern slope of the Großer Grubenhauck (643 m). Your right, with almost 2.8 km much longer source stream Mauerscheller Wasser springs southwest of the mountain and flows around it first in a counterclockwise direction along the Fulda - Werra watershed to unite with the 350 m long "actual" nüst.
In its course, initially northwards and then more north-west to west, the river crosses Unterbernhards and Mahlerts , touches Obernüst to the south and arrives via Gotthards to Morles , where the Aschenbach flows in from the right and Rimmels , where the wetness flows from the left.
About Silges and Mackenzell the Nüst reached the named after her southern Hünfelder district Nüst where they m to about 255 from the right in the Haune flows.
The average bed slope of the Nüst is therefore just under 11 ‰. If you include the Mauerscheller water, which alone has a high bed gradient of around 44 ‰, the total value would increase to 14 ‰.
Tributaries
The Nüst drains almost 100 km² of catchment area and pumps an average of one cubic meter of water per second.
