Olaf Bienert
Olaf Bienert (born September 19, 1911 in Gleiwitz , † September 24, 1967 in Berlin ) was a German composer .
Life
Olaf Bienert learned to play the organ at the age of seven, and at the age of 20 he took composition lessons in Berlin. After World War II , Bienert initially worked as a conductor and finally came to radio, for which he was active as a composer until the mid-1960s. Musically, he accompanied programs in RIAS such as Durch Berlin still flows the Spree or Mach mit .
From 1948 onwards, Bienert became well known at the piano as the musical director of the radio cabaret Die Insulaner by and with Günter Neumann , whom he had already met in 1932.
Bienert also set a number of poems by the writer Kurt Tucholsky to music , including An die Berlinerin , Mother's hands and Der Deutsche Mann . In addition, he wrote the music for numerous television programs, as well as for the movie Das Spukschloß im Spessart . The film Durch Dick und Dünn with Theo Lingen , Fita Benkhoff and Grethe Weiser in the leading roles was made in 1951 under his musical direction.
Bienert had been married since 1946. His son Christian (1947–2020) comes from this marriage , who also worked for radio until his retirement in 2012.
Olaf Bienert died in 1967 at the age of 56 from complications from a brain tumor in a Berlin hospital. He was buried in the Dahlem forest cemetery. The grave has not been preserved.
