Olberode is a district of the municipality Oberaula in the north Hessian Schwalm-Eder district in Hesse .

geography

Olberode is located in northern Hesse in the Knüll Mountains southeast of the main town on the Schorbach. In the south of the village there is a small lake, the Olberöder See, a reservoir. In the south the federal highway 454 leads past the place, in the east lies the national highway 3161.

history

In 1364 Olberode was first mentioned as Odolferode .

Until 1995, Olberode had a station on the Knüllwaldbahn , which has been dismantled and whose route is now used as a cycle path.

On 1 January 1974 in the wake of Olberode was municipal reform in Hesse powerful state law with the previously independent municipalities Oberaula, Friedigerode, Ibra and Wahlhausen for new large municipality Oberaula together . Local districts were formed for all formerly independent communities .
