Oleksandr Lysohub

Oleksandr Iwanowytsch Lysohub ( Ukrainian Олександр Іванович Лизогуб , Russian Александр Иванович Лизогуб Alexander Ivanovich Lisogub ; born February 1790 , Russian Empire , † January 1839 ) was a Ukrainian pianist and composer as well as Major General of the Imperial Russian Army . He came from the noble family Lysohub and was one of the founders of Ukrainian piano music.

Life

Oleksandr Lysohub was born in February 1790 as the son of Ivan Lysohub ( Іван Якович Лизогуб ; 1761-1819), the wealthy aristocratic marshal of the Chernigov governorate . He attended the Military Academy of the Page Corps in Saint Petersburg and joined the Lithuanian 5th Lance Regiment on December 19, 1809 as a Kornet . In 1812 he took part in the campaign against Napoleon and fought in the Battle of Vyazma and the Battle of Vilna . 1812 on August 4th jul. / August 16,  1812 greg. he distinguished himself at the Battle of Smolensk and took part in the further course of the Sixth Coalition War. 1814 was promoted to staff captain.

In 1815 he was transferred to the Orenburg Uhlan Regiment and the following year he returned to the Lithuanian Lance Regiment , where he was promoted to captain in August of the same year. Two years later, in 1818, he joined the Siberian Uhlan Regiment that joined the Life Guard in 1819. Here he was commander-in-chief of the 3rd Division and promoted to colonel in 1826. After he November 26 jul. / 8 December  1830 greg. was appointed commander of the Serpuchow Uhlan Regiment, he took part with this in the campaign against the rebellious Poles . On December 25, 1833, Oleksandr Lysohub was awarded the Order of St. George 4th Class (number 4784 on the list of Knights of the Order of St. George) for 25 years of immaculate service . On March 13, 1834 he was promoted to major general and appointed commander of the 1st Brigade of the First Ulan Division. At the end of 1838 he was retired due to illness and died in early 1839. On January 24, 1839, he was noted on the list of deceased.

In addition to his works for piano nocturne and mazurka he wrote Variations on Ukrainian folk songs Oj u poli krynytschenka ( Ой у полі криниченька ; to German in the field is a fountain ), Ta bula w mene Schinka ( Та була в мене жінка ; to German I had a woman ), Oj ty, diwtschyno ( Ой ти, дівчино ; in German Oh, you miss ) Oj ne chody, Hryzju ( Ой не ходи, Грицю ; in German Oh don't go, Hryc ); Romances: Smert na tschuschyni ( Смерть на чужині ; in German death in a foreign country ) and others.

Oleksandr Lysohub was the brother of the liberal landowner and friend Taras Shevchenko Andrij Lysohub and the philanthropist, composer and pianist Illja Lysohub ( Ілля Іванович Лизогуб ; 1787–1867) and later the uncle of the future Fedysubian head of government Lysohub and later the uncle of the future head of the Fedysubian government .
