Jabloňovce (German Almasch , Hungarian Almás ) is a municipality in the west of Slovakia with 210 inhabitants (December 31, 2019) that the Levice District , part of the Nitriansky kraj heard.

The village is located in the Schemnitz Mountains in the basin of the Jabloňovka brook , a tributary of the Sikenica on the left bank . The center of the village lies at an altitude of 291  m nm and is 21 kilometers from Levice and 25 kilometers from Banská Štiavnica .

Neighboring municipalities are Dekýš in the north, Počúvadlo in the northeast, Baďan in the east, Ladzany in the southeast, Pečenice in the south, Bátovce in the southwest, Devičany in the west and Bohunice in the northwest.

Protestant church

Today's community was created in 1944 through the merger of Dolný Almáš (until 1927 also "Dolná Ves"; German Unteralmasch , Hungarian Alsóalmás ) and Horný Almáš (until 1927 also "Horná Ves"; German Oberalmasch , Hungarian Felsőalmás ).

The older district, Dolný Almáš, was first mentioned in writing in 1245 as Almas and was owned by the Premonstratensian monastery of Šahy , while the local toll station was under the control of the Hronský Beňadik Abbey. From 1338 the village was in the dominion of the castle Lewenz . In 1638 the Csáky dynasty acquired the property, in the 19th century the Esterházy and Schoeller families owned the local estates . In 1715 the village had two mills and 45 households, in 1828 there were 78 houses and 465 inhabitants who were employed as farmers and winemakers.

Horný Almáš was first mentioned in writing in 1428 as Felseualmas and was owned by the Šahy provostry . In the 16th century the Ottoman Empire occupied the place. In 1685 the Jesuits received the local goods, which in 1776 went to the newly founded Diocese of Neusohl . In 1715 the village had a mill and 41 households, in 1828 there were 72 houses and 430 inhabitants who were employed as farmers and winemakers.

Until 1918, the places in Hont County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia.

According to the 2011 census, 196 inhabitants lived in Jabloňovce, including 181 Slovaks , seven Magyars and three Czechs each . Five residents gave no information about their ethnicity .

111 residents committed to the Roman Catholic Church, 57 residents to the Evangelical Church AB, four residents to the Reformed Church and one resident each to the Evangelical Methodist Church and one to the Greek Catholic Church; one resident professed a different denomination. 12 residents had no denomination and the denomination of nine residents was not determined.
