Plášťovce (Hungarian palace ) is a predominantly Hungarian-speaking municipality in the south of Slovakia , with 1515 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) . It belongs to the Okres Levice , a district of the parent district Nitriansky kraj .
geography
Plášťovce is located on the southwest slope of the Krupinská planina highlands at the confluence of the Litava and Krupinica rivers and is in the middle of the traditional Hont landscape . The center of the village is at an altitude of 155 m nm and is 12 kilometers from Šahy and 42 kilometers from Levice .
history
The place was first mentioned in writing in 1156 as Plast and originally belonged to Hont Castle , then to the Gran Chapter. Since the late 13th century the place was owned by the local landowners and in the 16th century the Čabraď Castle . On August 10, 1552, a battle between the Ottoman and imperial troops took place near the site, from which the Ottomans emerged victorious; a chapel commemorates this event.
Until 1918/1919 the place in Hont County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia . Due to the First Vienna Arbitration Award , he was once again in Hungary from 1938-45.
