Kozárovce (until 1927 in Slovak "Kozarovce" or "Košiarovce"; German Koscharowetz , Hungarian [Garam-] Kovácsi ) is a municipality in Nitriansky kraj in Slovakia .
geography
The municipality is located in the northern foothills of the Danube hill country on the right bank of the Hron ( Gran ) between the mountains Schemnitz Mountains in the east and Pohronský Inovec in the north. The borders of the Okresy Levice , Zlaté Moravce and Žarnovica (the latter in Banskobystrický kraj ) meet in the cadastral area . The place is 13 km from Zlaté Moravce , 15 km from Levice and 18 km from Nová Baňa .
history
Kozárovce first became known as villa Kouachi in 1075 when it became the property of the abbey in nearby Saint Benedict (Hronský Beňadik), where it remained until 1565.
Until 1918/1919 it belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary in Bars County , after which it came to the newly formed Czechoslovakia . Due to the First Vienna Arbitration , the community was a border town to the now enlarged Hungary 1938-1945.
