Veľké Ludince (Hungarian Nagyölved ) is a municipality in the south of Slovakia with 1443 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019), which belongs to the Okres Levice , part of the Nitriansky kraj .
geography
The municipality is located on the eastern edge of the Pohronská pahorkatina (part of the Slovakian Danube lowlands) and belongs to the wider valley on the lower reaches of the Hron . The municipal area is 31.8 km², is largely covered by fertile brown and black soils and is located in the warmest area of Slovakia. The highest point of the municipality is at around 272 m nm. The center of the village is at an altitude of 182 m nm and is 18 kilometers from Želiezovce and 37 kilometers from Nové Zámky and Levice .
Neighboring communities are Farná in the north, Kuraľany in the northeast, Keť in the east, Bruty in the southeast, Svodín in the south, Dubník in the west and Jasová in the northwest.
history
The place was first mentioned in writing as Vluend in 1282 , when it belonged to a certain Magister Oliver. At the end of the 13th century, the village became part of the Archdiocese of Gran , which it rented to lower nobility from the 16th century, such as the Bokor family in the 17th or Fabinyi and Koller in the 19th century. In 1828 there were 240 houses and 1,453 inhabitants who were employed in agriculture, fruit and wine growing and pottery.
Until 1918/19, the place in Gran County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia. From 1938 to 1945 he was again in Hungary due to the First Vienna Arbitration .

According to the 2011 census, Veľké Ludince had 1565 inhabitants, 1202 Magyars, 319 Slovaks, 28 Roma, eleven Czechs and one Ukrainian. Four residents made no statement. 1258 residents supported the Roman Catholic Church, 228 residents the Reformed Church, seven residents the Congregational Church, four residents the Evangelical Methodist Church, three residents the Evangelical Church AB, two residents each for the Greek Catholic Church and the Orthodox Church and a resident to the Baptists. 30 residents had no denomination and the denomination of 26 residents was not determined.
