Zbrojníky (until 1948 Slovak "Feďvernek"; Hungarian Fegyvernek or Kétfegyvernek ) is a municipality in the west of Slovakia with 508 inhabitants (December 31, 2019) that the Levice District , part of the Nitriansky kraj heard.
geography
The municipality is located on the western slope of the Ipeľská pahorkatina in the Slovakian Danube hill country , in the wide valley of the lower Hron . The small rivers Perec and Sikenica flow on the western edge of the village . The center of the village is at an altitude of 148 m nm and is 12 kilometers from Želiezovce and 17 kilometers from Levice .
Neighboring municipalities are Hontianska Vrbica in the north, Demandice the east, Sazdice and Sikenica the southeast, Kukučínov in the south, Šarovce the west and Jur nad Hronom in the northwest.
history
Today's municipality was created in 1946 through the merger of the previously independent villages Dolný Feďvernek (Hungarian Alsófegyvernek ) and Horný Feďvernek (Hungarian Felsőfegyvernek ), which to this day under the names Dolné Zbrojníky and Horné Zbrojníky form the two cadastral communities of the municipality.
Horný Feďvernek was first mentioned in writing in 1303 as Fegyuernek . Other historical names include Felswfeguernek (1461) and Fedwernek Maior (1503). The place was owned by the landed gentry as well as the local Fegyverneky family , in 1554 it belonged to the dominion of the castle Lewenz with 31 settlements at that time . In the 19th century, families like Plachy , Nyáry , Majthényi and Szulyovsky were landlords. In 1828 there were 54 houses and 325 inhabitants who were employed as farmers and winemakers.
Dolný Feďvernek was mentioned indirectly in 1461, directly in 1503 as Fedwernek Minor for the first time in writing. In the 19th century, members of the Hungarian Esterházy estate family were landlords. In 1828 there were 74 houses and 446 inhabitants who were employed as farmers and winemakers.
Until 1918, the places in Hont County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia. Due to the First Vienna Arbitral Award , they were again in Hungary from 1938 to 1945.

According to the 2011 census, Zbrojníky had 504 inhabitants, including 352 Slovaks and 154 Magyars . Four residents did not give any information about their ethnicity .
265 residents committed to the Roman Catholic Church, 89 residents to the Evangelical Church AB, 59 residents to the Reformed Church, five residents to the Pentecostal movement, four residents to the Evangelical Methodist Church, two residents to the Jehovah's Witnesses and one resident to the Seventh-day -Adventists; one resident professed a different denomination. 33 residents had no denomination and the denomination of 45 residents was not determined.
Buildings
The most important sacred building is the reformed church in classical style from 1806, which was built on the site of an older church from 1716. The tower was only added in 1840. Inside there is a chalice from 1738.
