The municipality is located in the Ipeľská pahorkatina ("Eipel hill country"), which belongs to the Slovakian Danube lowlands . It is located on the right bank of the border river Ipeľ , opposite the Hungarian municipality of Vámosmikola ; however, there is no connection there. Pastovce is located on the national road 564 and is 21 kilometers north of Štúrovo , 30 kilometers southwest of Šahy and 40 kilometers south of Levice .

history

Finds of the Lengyel culture from the Hallstatt and Laténe periods have been found in today's municipal area , as well as a Slavic burial site. The current place is first mentioned in writing in 1135 as Paztuh and had the right to fish. In the 14th century it was ruled by the Pásztó family , and in 1554 by Lewenz Castle . After the devastating Turkish wars , the place was bought by the Esterházy family , who owned it until the 19th century. One day after Easter 1774 the whole place burned down.

Until 1919 the place was in Hont County in the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to the newly formed Czechoslovakia. 1938-45 he was once again part of Hungary due to the First Vienna Arbitration .
