Pohronský Ruskov (until 1948 Slovak "Oroska"; Hungarian Oroszka - older Kisoroszka ) is a municipality in the south of Slovakia with 1214 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019). It belongs to the Okres Levice within the Nitriansky kraj .
geography
The municipality is located in the eastern part of the Slovakian Danube lowlands on the lower reaches of the Hron . The center of the village is at an altitude of 130 m nm and is 33 kilometers from Levice .
history
Pohronský Ruskov was first mentioned in writing in 1269 as Wruz .
Until 1918/19 the place in Bars County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia . On the basis of the First Vienna Arbitration Award , he was again in Hungary from 1938 to 1945. In 1948, the name, based on the Hungarian spelling, was changed to the Slavonic variant and the name affix pointing to the river Hron for reasons of national policy .
1974–1990 the neighboring town of Čata was part of the municipality.
