Oljato-Monument Valley ( Navajo : Ooljééʼtó ) is a census-designated place with 32.4 km² in Navajo County in the US state of Arizona . In 2000, Oljato-Monument Valley had 155 inhabitants. There is no central settlement, only individual houses scattered throughout the Navajo Nation on the Utah border . Large parts of the local area belong to Monument Valley , which also includes Oljato-Monument Valley, Utah , across the state border . US Highway 163 runs through the area .

Demographics

At the time of the United States Census 2000, Oljato-Monument Valley was inhabited by 155 people. The population density was 4.8 people per km². There were 58 housing units at an average of 1.8 per km ². The population of Oljato-Monument Valley was 0.65% white , 94.19% Native American and 5.16% named two or more races.

The residents of Oljato-Monument Valley's were distributed across 37 households out of which 59.5% had children under the age of 18. 48.6% of households were married, 32.4% had a female head of household without a husband and 10.8% were not families. 23.8% of households were made up of individuals and someone lived in 2.7% of all households aged 65 years or older. The average household size was 4.19 and the average family size 4.52.

The population was divided into 45.8% minors, 10.3% 18–24 year olds, 29.0% 25–44 year olds, 8.4% 45–64 year olds and 6.5% aged 65 and over or more. The median age was 21 years. For every 100 women there were 101.3 men. For every 100 women over the age of 18, there were 90.9 men.

The median household income in Oljato-Monuemt Valley was $ 6406, and the median family income reached the level of $ 12,813 . The per capita income in Oljato-Monument Valley was $ 4702. 53.8% of the population and 42.9% of families had an income below the poverty line , including 27.3% of minors and 52.9% of those aged 65 and over.

Education and infrastructure

Oljato-Monument Valley is in the Kayenta Unified School District .
