Course of the competition

Double Olympic champion Robert Garret - also first in the shot put , also second in the high and long jump
The Greek Olympic runner-up Panagiotis Paraskevopoulos

April 6, 1896, 4:25 p.m.

The throws were made from a square area with a side length of 2 to 2.5 meters. The throwing device weighed 2 kilograms. The participants were initially given three attempts, the best three athletes then another two litters. Garrett achieved the winning distance in the last round. Throws in the style of Myron's famous antique discus thrower were also required . However, the throwers could not achieve this in the desired form, and there was apparently no evaluation for this in the competition.

In order to clarify the deviations in the summary of results from the various sources, the results are compared in the following tables.
