1 Germany took part as an all-German team , for which the GDR selection prevailed against the DFB amateur selection in the domestic German qualification and ultimately won bronze for Germany. 2 Italy was disqualified for using professional players. Poland declined the offer to replace Italy. 3 North Korea withdrew from the tournament despite having qualified.

Germany took part as an all-German team , for which internal German qualifying competitions were held. Since Bundesliga professionals were not allowed to start, the DFB sent the amateur selection.
