Two futsal competitions were held at the 2018 Summer Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires .

The competitions took place from October 7th to 18th.

qualification

Each National Olympic Committee (NOC) was restricted to participation in one team sport (futsal, beach handball, hockey, and rugby 7), with the exception of the host country, which was allowed to register one team per sport. For each participating NOK, a team of 10 athletes per gender was allowed to take part. The participating players in futsal must have been born between January 1, 2000 and December 31, 2003.

Argentina, as the host and host nation, has the right to directly qualify a team in a gender of their choice. However, it was not possible to have a team for boys and girls. For the other starting places, separate qualification tournaments were held in the continental associations. AFC, UEFA, CONCACAF and CONMEBOL each received two quota places, CAF and OFC each received one.

If there is no qualifying tournament in the respective continental federation by December 31, 2017, the top-ranked country in the confederation will receive an automatic quota for the boys' tournament at the 2016 Futsal World Cup . For the girls' tournament, a quota place will be given to the best-placed team at the last major futsal adult tournament. If there are no more teams left from the respective confederation, the next best unqualified team will be determined on the basis of the FIFA rankings from May 15, 2018 and will then receive the quota place.

Boys tournament

The youth tournament took place from October 7th to 18th.
