Operation Rubikon is a German, two-part TV political thriller by Thomas Berger from 2002. The screenplay was written by Andreas Pflüger . The film was produced by Jürgen Haase of PROVOBIS Film GmbH in coproduction with filmtime entertainment on behalf of ProSieben . The first broadcasts of the two parts took place on May 22 and 23, 2002 on ProSieben.

The young public prosecutor Sophie Wolf ( Maria Schrader ) is entrusted with a case of illegal arms delivery and works with the BKA . Richard Wolf ( Hilmar Thate ), BKA President, is her father. In the course of the investigation, their relationship will be subjected to a tough test. A special unit with young BKA investigators is formed to find out the secret of the arms delivery. A gigantic plot that extends into the government is uncovered.

The film is based on the eponymous Operation Rubikon , a secret operation by the West German Federal Intelligence Service and the CIA , which dealt with the telecommunications investigation of encrypted government communications in other countries.
The novel of the same name by Andreas Pflüger was published by Herbig Verlag in 2004 based on the scripts . For film and books, the author took advice from the former head of the Federal Criminal Police Office, Hans-Ludwig Zachert , among others .
Awards
Hilmar Thate and Martin Feifel were nominated for the German Television Award for Best Actor in 2002 for their performances .
