history

The village northeast was created together with the other six localities on January 1, 1972, to reduce the number of local councils to seven. Before that, all 29 districts that were part of Salzgitter at the time had their own local council. The first local election took place that same year. Until the incorporation of the districts of Sauingen and Üfingen on March 1, 1974, the north-east consisted of only the two districts of Thiede and Beddingen.
