Oskar Meyer (politician)
Oskar Meyer (born May 22, 1858 in Gries near Bozen , Tyrol, † February 6, 1943 in Salzburg ) was an Austrian engineer and politician of the Christian Social Party (CS). He was Governor of Salzburg from 1919 to 1922 .
Life
After studying engineering in Graz , he joined the state construction service in Bozen in 1882. In 1886 he came to Salzburg as a civil servant. In 1919 he became the first Salzburg governor to be freely elected by the Salzburg state parliament . He held this office from April 23, 1919 to May 4, 1922. As governor, his main concern was to rebuild the city and state of Salzburg and to combat the economic hardship of the population. From 1926 he worked as a civil engineer. Oskar Meyer died in 1943, he was buried in the Salzburg municipal cemetery.
