Oskar Tenge
Carl Christian Oskar Tenge (born June 18, 1832 in Oldenburg ; † November 9, 1913 there ) was a German dyke count and senior building officer , active in the Grand Duchy of Oldenburg .
Life
Tenge was the son of Christian Tenge (1797–1868). He attended the Polytechnic in Braunschweig and joined the Oldenburg civil service in 1861 as a road and hydraulic engineering conductor. In 1868 he was appointed road and hydraulic engineering inspector and master builder for the Stollhamm district. In 1876 he was promoted to chief inspector and district master builder of Jever . In 1886 he received the title of building officer and in 1887 was appointed a member of the building management team with the title Deichgräfe . In 1894 he was appointed to Oberdeichgräfen. The last major correction of the course of the Hunte took place under Tenge's direction from 1893 to 1899 . In 1903 he received the appointment to the secret senior building officer and lecturing council in the Department of the Interior within the Oldenburg State Ministry. In early 1908 he retired.
Tenge did not only deal professionally with hydraulic engineering , but also devoted a more private historical research interest to this discipline. He published several works on the history of the dike after archival studies, which were largely carried out by himself. He was also interested in the history and construction technology of secular and sacred architectural and art monuments in the Grand Duchy. He also published some writings on this.
He was active in various associations, including being a member of the Architects and Engineers Association of Hanover , the Technical Association of Oldenburg , the Oldenburg State Association for Classical Studies and State History and the Oldenburg Literary Society from 1779.
Honors
Tenge has received several awards, including the Knight's Cross of Honor 1st Class of the Oldenburg House and Merit Order of Duke Peter Friedrich Ludwig in 1902 and the Prussian Order of the Crown 2nd Class with Star in 1906 .
family
On October 2, 1862 Tenge married Julie Goldschmidt (1840–1923), a daughter of the doctor Jonas Goldschmidt (1806–1900).
