Osseck am Wald (official spelling Osseck a.Wald) is a district of the municipality Regnitzlosau in the district of Hof . To distinguish the Hof district of the same name , it bears the addition am Wald .

geography

Osseck is located in the west of the Regnitzlosau municipality and borders on the Rehau urban area in the south . To the north lies the district of Klötzlamühle , to the east of Raitschin and to the west of Draisendorf .

history

The place was first mentioned in a document in 1376. Numerous lower aristocratic families have owned the property continuously over the centuries. Two lime kilns were operated in the village in the 18th century . In 1822 Osseck was largely destroyed in a fire.

On January 1, 1972, Osseck, which until then belonged to the Draisendorf municipality, was reclassified to the Regnitzlosau municipality as part of the Bavarian municipal reform. In 2006 an extensive village renovation was carried out.

On a hill near the site, Hallstatt-era burial mounds were scientifically examined in 1981 and 1982 . Three cremation graves were uncovered during the excavations .
