Ottilie Baranowski

Ottilie Baranowski (born November 6, 1925 in Bevergern , Free State of Prussia ) is a German librarian and Low German author .

Life

Ottilie Baranowski grew up as the daughter of a technician and skipper in the Tecklenburger Land . She attended elementary school in Bevergern until 1940 and then until 1942 the commercial school in Rheine . After that, until her retirement in 1986, she worked in various positions as an administrative clerk at the Landschaftsverband Westfalen-Lippe , including five years as a librarian with the Westphalian Heimatbund .

In his private life, Baranowski devotes himself entirely to maintaining the Low German language, which is her mother tongue , and writes Low German books and radio plays . She did volunteer work in various positions, such as the Augustin Wibbelt Society in Münster , where she was managing director from 1984 to 1997. In addition, she was director of a Low German language school in Mühlenhof in Münster and from 1979 to 1989 a member of the advisory board of the Bevensen Conference and from 1979 to 1996 a member or chairwoman of the advisory board at the Institute for Low German in Bremen .

Furthermore, Baranowski was an actress at the Low German stage at the Münster Theater and worked for the WDR as a translator from other Low German dialects and from High German .

Ottilie Baranowski lives in Brochterbeck .
