Bernard Fathmann

Bernard Fathmann (born November 4, 1948 in Lastrup in the district of Cloppenburg in Lower Saxony ) is a German educator and Low German author .

Life

The son of a cattle dealer spent his childhood in Lastrup, where he attended elementary and secondary school . After leaving school, he did an apprenticeship as a retailer in Cloppenburg . In 1967 he went to the Federal Border Police . During this time he obtained his university entrance qualification in evening school .

After attending the evening grammar school in Lüneburg , he began studying social pedagogy there in 1971 at the University of Education , which he completed in 1975 as a qualified pedagogue with additional teaching qualifications in Catholic theology . He spent the following three years as a teacher at the College of Social also in Lüneburg and there formed educators from.

Since 1978, Fathmann has been running a therapeutic home for children and adolescents in the Penkefitz district of Dannenberg . The ARD children's and youth series Penkefitz No. 5 (1982) plays there. The main characters in her are the children in the home who experience adventures.

Since the mid-1970s he has also been working on more extensive texts. He wrote his first radio play Pelikane starwt ut , which has now been followed by more than a dozen. Since then, the fate of children has preoccupied him and has been a theme in his works.

Fathmann is also active in local politics and was honorary mayor ( SPD) of the city of Dannenberg from 1991 to 2001 . He is married and has three children.
