Otto Balthasar von Buxhoeveden ( Russian : Отто Оттович Буксгевден, born December 5, 1839 in Arensburg ; † June 8, 1907 in Saint Petersburg ) was a German-Baltic lawyer , state politician and privy councilor on Ösel .

Career

Otto Balthasar began his studies at the law school in Saint Petersburg after graduating from school . He continued his studies at the University of Leipzig in 1861 and at the University of Heidelberg in 1862 , during which time he traveled to France , England and Scotland . His professional career began in 1863 in the Tsarist Ministry of Justice in Sankt Peterburg. From 1864 he held the office of Navy - Oberauditeurs and from 1869 he was marine Prokureur in Kronstadt . From 1887 he was employed in the Russian Interior Ministry . He was then, in 1893, the agents of the Hauptprokureurs the upper court martial appointed the Navy. In 1895 he was appointed a privy councilor and in 1896 he was appointed as a member of the Konsultunz at the Ministry of Justice. Otto Balthasar was also a member of the main committee of the Evangelical Bible Society in Russia from 1884 and was intensively active in the field of social welfare . As an honorary member he worked in the International Society for the Advancement of the National Economy and was appointed Real Privy Councilor in 1905 . In recognition and appreciation of his political and social commitment, he was awarded the Order of Saint Stanislaus # Russian Order 1st Class, the Russian Order of Saint Anne 1st Class and the Order of Saint Vladimir 2nd Class. One of his social fields of activity was caring for and advocating for a poor law in Saint Petersburg.

Origin and family

Otto Baltharsar v. B. came from the German-Baltic noble family von Buxhoeveden . His father was Otto Magnus Balthasar von Buxhoeveden (1795–1847) Lord on Magnusdahl ( Muhu Island ), who was married to Jeanette Wilhelmine von Hoyningen-Huene (1799–1872). Otto Magnus Balthasar was married to Adelaide Charlotte von Erdmann (1849–1920) since 1868. Her descendants were:
