Otto Georg Veldtmann

Otto Georg Veldtmann (born January 28, 1685 in Groningen , † October 11, 1746 near Roucoux ) was a Dutch major general .

Life

family

Veldtmann was on 29 January 1685 in the New Church (Nieuwe Kerk) in Groningen baptized . His parents were the councilor Hendricus Fickens Veldtman and Clara Barlinckhof. He married Willemina Robers (1686–1745) in 1708. The marriage had at least four children.

career

Veldtmann was an officer in the States General . On May 10, 1707 he was promoted to captain and on March 1, 1717 to lieutenant colonel . From September 27, 1728 to November 7, 1739 he was commander of the Oranje-Stad en Lande regiment . On November 13, 1739 he was promoted to colonel and on January 1, 1742 to major general. He was in command of Emden and the fortress Leerort . As the Prussian envoy in the Hague , Count von Podewils , after East Frisia had come to Prussia , obtained the withdrawal of the Dutch. He took in Brabant the War of Austrian Succession in part and is in a battle of Roucourt fallen .
