Otto Hasse (General)
Otto Hasse (born June 21, 1871 in Schlawe ; † September 28, 1942 in Berlin-Grunewald ) was a German infantry general and from 1922 to 1925 chief of the Reichswehr troop office .
Life
Hasse joined the infantry regiment "Graf Kirchbach" (1st Lower Silesian) No. 46 in Posen on September 27, 1890 as a flag boy . Before the First World War he served in the Great General Staff and was used for the inspection of the military transport system. During the war he served in several general staffs. On May 12, 1918 he was awarded the Oak Leaves to the Order Pour le Mérite for his work as Chief of the General Staff in the X Reserve Corps at the Battle of the Kemmel . From 1918 to the end of the year he was Chief of Staff in the 1st Army .
He was accepted into the Reichswehr and transferred to the Reichswehr Ministry. In 1922 he was appointed Chief of the Troop Office (TA) and promoted to major general on February 1, 1923. As head of the TA he stayed in Moscow in 1923 for secret agreements on the Rapallo Treaty with the Soviet Union regarding the cooperation between the Reichswehr and the Red Army . In 1926, as lieutenant general , he was commander of the 3rd division and at the same time commander in military district III . Promoted to General of the Infantry, Hasse was appointed Commander in Chief of Group Command I in Berlin on April 1, 1929. In 1932 he retired from active service.
Otto Hasse was buried in the Invalidenfriedhof Berlin . His grave is preserved.
