Otto Stenroth

Otto Eliel Stenroth (born May 13, 1861 in Saarijärvi , † December 16, 1939 in Helsinki ) was a Finnish lawyer, politician and bank president.

Life

Otto Stenroth began his career at Kansallis-Osake-Bank. In 1891 he was elected to the Finnish Reichstag and was a member of it until 1900. As a member of the Young Finnish Party , he represented the eastern constituency of Vaasa in 1908 and 1909. Since 1911 he was a member of the Helsingforser Municipal Council and rose to its deputy chairman in 1915. In 1918 he resigned from this position and became Finland's foreign minister after independence .

From December 13, 1918 to January 20, 1923 he was President of the Central Bank of Finland .
