Keijo Korhonen (politician)

Keijo Tero Korhonen (born February 23, 1934 in Melalahti near Paltamo ) is a Finnish politician ( Center Party ), ambassador and professor .

Korhonen was Finnish Foreign Minister from 1976 to 1977 under Prime Minister Martti Miettunen . From 1983 to 1988 he was the permanent representative of Finland to the United Nations . In 1994 he ran as an independent candidate - Paavo Väyrynen ran for the Center Party - in the presidential election and came in fifth with 5.8%.

In addition to his work as a politician, he was also Professor of Political History at the University of Helsinki and taught political science at the University of Arizona . He has also written books dealing with foreign policy issues and the UN.
