Otto Wilhelm von Bärneck

Otto Wilhelm von Bärneck (* 1726 ; † April 3, 1803 in Juliusburg ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

In 1748 Bärneck joined the Hussar Regiment "von Natzmer" of the Prussian Army as a Junker . There he became a cornet on July 21, 1749 and second lieutenant on October 17, 1756 . During the Seven Years' War he fought near Prague , Kolin , Kay , Hochkirch , Torgau, as well as in the battles of Zittau, Görlitz, Mühlhausen and the siege of Schweidnitz. During that time he was first lieutenant on January 1, 1758 and on November 29, 1760 staff assistant master .

On June 3, 1767 Bärneck rose to Rittmeister and squadron chief . As such, he took part in the War of the Bavarian Succession . On September 6, 1780 he was promoted to major and on September 1, 1788 to lieutenant colonel . Bärneck was awarded the order Pour le Mérite for a revue on September 22nd, 1789 . A year later, on September 16, 1790, he was promoted to colonel . In the First Coalition War , Bärneck took part in the cannonade of Valmy , the siege of Mainz and the occupation of Frankfurt am Main . After the war he was regimental commander on November 27, 1794, but already on December 28, 1794, Bärneck received his resignation , conferring the character of a major general with a pension of 600 thalers . On February 8, 1795, he was given permission to wear the uniform of his old regiment. He died unmarried on April 3, 1803 in Juliusburg.
