Alexander August Eberhard von der Lochau (* 1726 ; † August 15, 1800 in Königsberg ) was a Prussian major general and chief of the 4th artillery regiment.

Life

Military career

Lochau was a member of the Lords of Lochau . He arrived in 1744 as a cadet of the cavalry in the Electorate of Saxony services . In the Second Silesian War he fought against the Prussians and was shot in the neck in the Battle of Hohenfriedberg . In 1749 he switched to Prussian service , where he joined the field artillery corps as a bombardier . On December 13, 1756 he became second lieutenant . During the Seven Years' War Lochau fought in the battles of Lobositz , Prague , Kolin , Breslau , Leuthen , Kunersdorf , Hochkirch and the sieges of Prague, Breslau, Schweidnitz , Olomouc and Dresden. During this time he was on December 31, 1761 staff captain and on April 7, 1763 captain and company commander .

After the war, Lochau became major on October 2, 1777 and took part in the War of the Bavarian Succession . In June 1786 he became a lieutenant colonel and commander of the 2nd artillery regiment. In addition, on June 20, 1789, he received the order Pour le Mérite at the Revue in Berlin. On August 11, 1790 he became a colonel and on February 4, 1792 commander of the 4th Artillery Regiment. He was promoted to major general on January 1, 1795, and on January 16, 1795, he was appointed chief of the 4th Artillery Regiment. He died on August 15, 1800 in Königsberg.

Lochau married Sophie Juliane Henriette von Briest (* 1740 in Müncheberg; † February 5, 1806). She was the daughter of August Sigismund von Briest (1702–1771) and Augusta Dorothea Louise Cordula von Rohr (1709–1768). Her sister Charlotte Amalie Dorothea von Briest (* August 21, 1738 - May 30, 1813) was with Colonel and Chief of the 3rd Artillery Regiment Rudolf Wilhelm Heinrich von Winterfeldt (* April 25, 1720 - March 15, 1788) , Herr auf Züsedom , married.
