Otto von Ribbeck

Otto Wilhelm von Ribbeck (born May 10, 1815 in Horst bei Kyritz , † May 26, 1873 in Halle (Saale) ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

origin

Otto was the son of Hans Georg von Ribbeck (1776–1838) and his wife Luise, born von Redern (1778–1857). His father was the heir to Dahlhausen, Horst and Blumenthal.

Career

Ribbeck came to Berlin as a cadet on August 10, 1830 , where he lived as a pensioner. On August 14, 1834, he was aggregated as a second lieutenant in the Leib-Hussar Regiment of the Prussian Army, and on March 18, 1835 he was assigned. From October 1, 1842 to September 30, 1844, he was assigned to attend lectures at the veterinary school and was promoted to Rittmeister and squadron chief by the end of June 1852 . Ribbeck received on 11 June 1858 character as a Major , on 12 July, the patent of his rank and came on May 19, 1959-budgetary staff officer in the 3rd Hussars . During the mobilization on the occasion of the Sardinian War , Ribbeck was commander of the 3rd Landwehr Hussar Regiment.

On July 24, 1861, he was transferred to the Westphalian Dragoon Regiment No. 8 in Stendal as commander. In this capacity Ribbeck rose to colonel by mid-June 1865 and took part in the German War the following year . For his work he received the swords for the Red Eagle Order III on September 20, 1866 . Class. He was on January 9, 1868 under ceremony of the character as a major general board for disposition made. On 24 July 1869, he was his farewell approved with board.

family

He married on October 10, 1860 on Langenoels Henriette Detert (1828–1868), a daughter of Johann Heinrich Detert on Boek in Mecklenburg-Schwerin . The couple had several children:

  • Hans Georg (1862–1874), Prussian cadet
  • Julius Heinrich Fritz Ludwig (1865–1867)

After the death of his first wife, he married Bertha Schmidt (1837–1906) on May 9, 1870 in Osterhausen. The couple had a son:

  • Wilhelm Otto Max (1872–1945), Prussian captain ⚭ 1904 Yelva Schmidt-Hansen (* 1879)
