Our First 100 Days

Our First 100 Days is a political music project initiated by the US independent label Secretly Canadian . The project started on January 20, 2017, the day Donald Trump was inaugurated , with the aim of releasing a song in opposition to Donald Trump's policies for the first 100 days of his term in office . The playlist created in this way can be called up via Bandcamp and is available as an unlimited stream and download for a fee. The proceeds will benefit selected organizations that deal with topics that the initiators believe are acutely endangered by the Trump administration's agenda, including climate protection , LGBTQ and immigration .

In contrast to the sister project 1,000 Days, 1,000 Songs , unreleased material, including numerous new compositions, was used without exception. Involved were mainly, but not exclusively, artists under contract with the label.

Motivation and Goal

Phil Waldorf of the Secretly Group explained the goal of the compilation as follows.

“Many of us woke up in shock the morning after the election. Everything was different. We knew we had to do something and we're so proud of what we're doing with Our First 100 Days . It's not just a collection of great music, it's a gathering of the music community that supports many important organizations that will be on the front lines to defend themselves against the policies of the new administration. We hope that people will not only love the music and discover some new things, but will see it as an easy way to contribute to organizations that need support right now. "
